Trump lawyer spars with Fox News host

In response to the statement, former US Attorney Preet Bharara, whom Trump fired in March, tweeted early Friday morning that "Americans should also exercise caution before accepting as true lies about firing of Federal Bureau of Investigation director & defamation of a war hero special counsel", references to criticisms Trump has levied against Mueller and James Comey.

When Sekulow insisted that Trump fired Comey at the recommendation of the deputy attorney general, Todd noted;that Trump himself told NBC anchor Lester Holt he planned on firing Comey regardless of the deputy attorney general and the attorney general's recommendation.

Jay Sekulow, President Donald Trump's attorney, said that Trump is not under investigation and has received no notice of investigation from Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

And Trump's bombshell tweet on Friday morning - appearing to confirm that he's now under investigation for obstruction of justice and attacking his deputy attorney general - is part of a broader decision by the president to "go on the attack", the official said.

Yesterday, after US President Donald Trump denied obstruction of justice allegations made against him within the investigation into his relationship with Russian Federation and for firing Comey, today (Friday), Trump is painting a different picture.

US President Donald Trump has mocked FBI investigators of not being able to find any evidence related to the probe of a possible collusion between his team and Russian Federation during 2016 Presidential election.

Representative Adam Schiff, Democrat of California, accused Trump and his allies of seeking to undermine Mueller's inquiry, setting a pretext for potentially firing those leading it. Trump has reportedly told friends that he considered firing Mueller, and the president's tweet Friday appeared aimed at Rosenstein, raising questions about whether he might fire him, too.

The ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee says he believes there is evidence that the Trump campaign colluded with Russian Federation to interfere in the general election.

But a source close to the President told CNN's Jim Acosta that Trump has been advised to avoid such a dramatic move.

During his appearance on Fox News Sunday, things got pretty heated between Sekulow and host Chris Wallace as Wallace pushed back on the attorney's convoluted explanations about why Trump is not being investigated.

Sekulow said Trump "is not and has not been under investigation".

Law enforcement sources tell CNN that the special counsel is gathering information and considering whether there is evidence to launch a full-scale obstruction investigation. "I'm just curious, why doesn't the president embrace this investigation if he's innocent?"

Advisers have been forced to perform post-presidential cleanup in the wake of Trump's tweets and comments.

Questions abound as to whether Mueller is investigating Trump for any alleged wrong-doing.

In the Senate, Sen.

"There should be no confusion", Sekulow added. This is a very complex matter, involving thousands of pages of intelligence documents, lots of witnesses.
