Two areas to watch for tropical development

A tropical cyclone could form early in the week over the southern or central Gulf of Mexico. The Hurricane Reconnaissance flight that was scheduled for Sunday afternoon was cancelled due to the system's general lack of organization. The metros (and surrounding suburbs) of New Orleans and Houston could see large impacts from this system depending on the exact track. "A marine warning is in effect for today, and a small craft warning is likely to be in effect for Monday", the weather service added.

Anyone planning on making a trip to the Alabama coast next week should pay close attention to this system.

What's better certain right now though of course is bearing in mind that if the storm does take a route eastward, Florida well feel more effects in the form of some heavy rain. The first is a tropical wave located several hundred miles south-southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms. This year, NHC is issuing advisories for tropical depressions, storms, or hurricanes before they have formed, but could impact land within a couple of days. If development occurs, the system would be known as Tropical or Sub-tropical Storm Bret or Cindy, depending on the development of Potential Tropical Cyclone 2 which is approaching the Windward Islands.

The system is expected to move into an area less conducive for strengthening in the next few days.

The probabilities are up to 90 percent that something is going to get going in the Gulf of Mexico soon. Although it will not rain all day, it will definitely look gloomier and wetter with the moisture passing through.

However, after the storm develops into a tropical storm, it is expected to encounter unfavorable conditions in the Caribbean, dissipating later in the week.

This portion of the Atlantic Basin is an unusual spot for tropical development this early in the season.
