Van mows down worshippers leaving London mosque, here are all the reactions

"There has been one person arrested", police said in a statement. "He tried to do a London Bridge thing".

Emergency services and forensic officers gather on a road near Finsbury Park station after a vehicle struck pedestrians in north London, Monday June 19, 2017.

"He was screaming, he was saying, "I'm going to kill all Muslims, I'm going to kill all Muslims". I just hope they did". "Their restraint in the circumstances was commendable". "A Number of patients were also treated at the scene for minor injuries".

Home Secretary Amber Rudd said: "My thoughts are with all those affected by the appalling incident at Finsbury Park".

"When I looked back, I thought it was a auto accident, but people were shouting, screaming and I realised this was a man choosing to terrorise people who are praying", he told Reuters.

"If you were interested in targeting a group of Muslims at a mosque that was notorious, this would be the mosque you would do it at".

The incident comes at a time when emotions are high in England, where there have been several terrorist attacks in recent weeks.

He added: "I said, 'tell me why did you try driving to kill innocent people?' All my thoughts are with the victims, their families and the emergency services on the scene", The Telegraph quoted May, as saying.

Extra police are being deployed to reassure communities, especially those observing Ramadan, Mayor of London Sadiq Khan said.

The incident came after the series of the Islamic Militants attack in the London city that claimed lives of many.

"I'm totally shocked at the incident at Finsbury Park tonight, ' his tweet read".

It comes after two deadly Islamist attacks this year that used vehicles to ram pedestrians - one earlier this month in the London Bridge area and a March attack in which a man drove a auto into crowds on Westminster Bridge.

"'We call it a terrorist attack as we called it in Manchester, Westminster and London Bridge". Five civilians were killed in the attack.

"People are going to wake up tomorrow.communities from all different backgrounds, and they're going to be in shock to hear worshipers in front of a mosque were attacked in the same way that people were attacked on the London Bridge", he said.

"Literally within a minute, a van with speed turned to where we were and ran over the man who was laying on the floor and the people around him, around eight people or 10 people got injured, some of them seriously". The van driver deliberately mowed down Muslim men and women leaving late evening prayers from Finsbury Park Mosque and Muslim Welfare House just after midnight.

"From the window, I started hearing a lot of yelling and screeching, a lot of chaos outside".

One witness told the BBC he held down the suspect for 20 to 30 minutes before police arrived. The van is believed to have been rented in north Wales.

The Finsbury Park mosque was associated with extremist ideology for several years after the 9/11 attacks in the United States, but was shut down and reorganized.
