Vehicle strikes and injures multiple pedestrians near Finsbury Park, London police say

Witnesses reported seeing one man giving CPR to a victim in the street, while another man's head injury was treated with a makeshift dressing.

A leader of the Muslim Council of Britain called for extra security at mosques in light of the apparent attack.

"Police say incident has all the "hallmarks" of a terrorist" incident.

British police said it was too early to say whether the death was due to the van attack.

"One man was pronounced dead at the scene".

"The attack unfolded as a man was already receiving first aid at the scene, sadly that man has died", Neil Basu, senior national coordinator for counter-terrorism policing, said. Eight injured were sent to three separate hospitals and two others were treated at the scene.

Britain has been hit by a series of attacks in recent months, including the van-and-knife attack on London Bridge on June 3.

Prime Minister Theresa May described it as a "terrible incident", adding: "All my thoughts are with those who have been injured, their loved ones and the emergency services on the scene".

But it was raided and shut down and later reclaimed by the local Muslim community, who have transformed it into a place which actively promotes better community relations across faiths.

The Islington borough of North London, of which Finsbury Park is a part, is home to a large Muslim community.

"We don't yet know the full details, but this was clearly a deliberate attack on innocent Londoners, many of whom were finishing prayers during the holy month of Ramadan", he said.

Kozbar complained that the "mainstream media" was unwilling to call the attack a terrorist incident for many hours.

Mr Salah Alamoudi said he had also helped to hold the suspect on the ground for up to half an hour before police arrived. One person was killed and 10 were hurt. The video of the crash early Monday morning was accessed by the AP.

A man was arrested after "intentionally" driving a vehicle into several pedestrians near a mosque in London on Sunday.

Someone in the crowd is heard shouting, "No one touch him! No one! No one!"

Adding, 'The van drove over people who were leaving late prayers.

Harun Khan, the general secretary of the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB), has remarked that as per accounts of an eyewitness, the man who committed the crime in Finsbury Park was motivated by Islamophobia.

"During the night, ordinary British citizens were set upon while they were going about their lives, completing their night worship".

He was taken to the hospital and will be subject to a mental health evaluation.

On Fridays, worshippers can be seen heading to and from the several mosques in the area.

The incident comes after two deadly Islamist-inspired attacks this year that used vehicles to ram pedestrians - a stabbing spree earlier this month in the London Bridge area and a March attack in which a man drove a auto into crowds on Westminster Bridge.

"There has been one person arrested".

Police attend to the scene after a vehicle rammed pedestrians in London's Finsbury Park.

Abdulrahman Saleh Alamoudi said he was among a group of people helping an elderly worshipper who had fallen down when the van swerved towards them. "My prayers are with the victims and their families", read the statement. Vanzella said she went to the window and saw "loads of people gathering" in a corner across the road from her window. Many police cars and ambulances responded to the incident.
