AC Milan close to signing Real Madrid striker Morata

Just weeks after it was claimed the Spanish giants had ended their pursuit of De Gea, latest reports claim they are preparing a fresh bid of around £60million for the Red Devils goalkeeper.

Where will Alvaro Morata be playing next season?

United had been strongly linked with a move for the Spain worldwide before the Premier League club concluded a £75million deal to sign Romelu Lukaku from Everton.

If Morata moves to the San Siro he would take the club's spending to more than £200m and become their TWELFTH signing of the summer.

Manchester United midfielder, Ander Herrera, has revealed that Alvaro Morata was "very close" to becoming his team-mate at Old Trafford.

However, Chelsea's attention appears to be split between a number of strikers as it stands - with Borussia Dortmund's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang believed to now sit at the top of their wish list - and it could leave Milan free to secure a deal for Morata.

Manager Jose Mourinho also described it as "a shame" that the Spaniard would not be linking up with the squad. "Things can happen in the last days of the market, but I wish Alvaro the best".

Meanwhile, ESPN FC's Mark Ogden has reported that United don't think Real Madrid have the funds to pay for De Gea right now. Club director, Marco Fassone has admitted to Mediaset Premium, their interest in the Real Madrid striker, and stated that the negotiations have heated up significantly in the last few hours. The club tried to sell Álvaro Morata as well and United were interested at first.

Whilst Real Madrid accepted a two-year loan and relatively cheap departure for James Rodriguez, they are holding out for 80 million euros for Morata.
