American Airlines insists farty passenger wasn't cause of emergency

According to WBTV, the decision to evacuate the passengers was taken after passengers complained of nausea and headache due to the smell.

RALEIGH, North Carolina - Officials with the Raleigh-Durham International Airport say that a jet was evacuated Sunday after a person "passed gas", making passengers feel ill.

An American Airlines flight was evacuated after a sick man broke wind so violently it caused nausea and headaches among his fellow passengers, according to a USA airport official.

In what may very well be a first, a passenger who "passed gas" forced the plane to reroute and land.

An airline spokesperson later claimed the evacuations were due to a "mechanical issue". An updated statement from the airport referred to the incident a "medical call" after the planed deplaned "normally".

RDU officials did not identify where the plane was from or its destination or what type of aircraft was involved.

Back in 2016, one passenger became so disgruntled about a fellow flatulent passenger, that she wrote a note to a flight attendant asking her to make a plea for it to stop.
