Amid Sikkim standoff, Chinese Army conducts military drills in Tibet

Firing a fresh salvo against India over the ongoing standoff at the Sikkim border, China on Saturday said there is "no room" for negotiations and the only solution is the withdrawal of Indian troops from the Donglang or Doklam region.

The report, however, did not specify when and why the 11-hour exercise was held.

"India pursues Act East policy via Myanmar" - in the Global Times online said, "For Myanmar, which is nestled between China and India, the policy of "no enemies" is the best strategic choice". According to the CCTV report, the brigade which is stationed around the middle and lower reaches of the Brahmaputra (Yarlung Zangbo in Chinese) River, which flows into India and Bangladesh, also administers frontline combat missions.

"The PLA wanted to demonstrate it could easily overpower its Indian counterparts", Beijing-based military commentator Zhou Chenming told the Post.

The commentary, apart from warning India of repelling from Doklam, also accused New Delhi of spreading false propaganda against China.

Earlier reports said the Chinese army recently tested a new light battle tank being manufactured by China. The rift escalated after Chinese Army's construction party attempted to build road near the area.

"Just like what happened with China during its reform and opening-up, the arrival of foreign manufacturing will greatly enhance India's ability to develop its manufacturing sector, which will help in cultivating a large number of skilled workers, managers, and factories", it added.
