Emily Blunt dazzles in practically flawless moving poster for Mary Poppins Returns

When they look up in the sky and the clouds part, they are stunned at the sight of Mary Poppins, umbrella in hand, hovering overhead.

Mary Poppins Returns won't be released in cinemas until Christmas Day 2018, but Disney has released a new sneak peek at the "Practically Perfect" Blunt (below), so stand on by, down a spoonful of sugar and start setting your plans for December of next year.

The sparking cast also includes Colin Firth as the cruel bank manager Wilkins, Lin-Manuel Miranda as Lamplighter Jack, Angela Lansbury as the Balloon Lady, Meryl Streep as Mary's cousin Topsy and, in a nice nod back to the original, Dick Van Dyke as bank chairman Mr. Dawes.

Coinciding with the live-action movie presentation at the D23 Expo, Disney has released a motion poster for the upcoming sequel Mary Poppins Returns featuring Emily Blunt as the magical nanny; check it out here...

The footage encapsulated the lives of Jane and Michael Banks, who live with their three children during the Great Depression in the United Kingdom. Lin-Manuel Miranda is seen dancing with a ladder as a chimney sweep. "Every person we approached said yes immediately". Here's some of what Emily Blunt had to say during the panel. "I wanted to pay homage to Julie and then carve out my own niche and do my own version of her". "She's just unbelievable", before teasing that her version of Mary is a little more "acerbic and odd and vain" like the character is in the books. Mary Poppins Returns draws from the material in these additional books.

The movie is set to reunite the director and producing team behind Disney's hit musical Into the Woods, with Rob Marshall in the director's chair and Marshall, John DeLuca, and Marc Platt all down as producers. "This is a brand new original film musical from top to bottom, which is very rare, and it is a wonderful opportunity to create something specifically for the screen". It will open on December 21st 2018 in the United Kingdom and December 25th 2018 in North America.
