FSU Picked to Win the ACC in 2017

In the Atlantic Division, Florida State led the way with 121 first-place votes and 1,108 total points. Ballots were submitted at last week's ACC Kickoff in Charlotte.

Miami won their first Bowl game in ten seasons a year ago. Defending division champion Virginia Tech followed with 40 first-place votes and 932 points. Dabo Swinney's Tigers finished in second place with 35 votes.

Pitt (seven first-place votes) totaled 673 points, followed by North Carolina (four first-place votes) at 606, Duke (four first-place votes) at 473 and Virginia at 219.

Duke is the only team from North Carolina with a vote to win the conference, receiving just one vote.

Florida State was picked to win the Atlantic Division-and to become the overall league champion-by a group consisting of 167 media members, while Miami is the early favorite to take home the Coastal Division.

Virginia Tech and Miami play in Miami Gardens, Florida, on November 4, a game that could well decide who represents the league in the ACC title game in Charlotte this December. Virginia Tech, which won the Coastal last season, is the second-place pick.

Jackson, the 2016 ACC player of the year, was the overwhelming selection to be the league's player of the year in 2017.

Miami returns 15 starters from last season. "We're moving right along at a very good pace, I think". Miami Sophomores, linebacker Shaquille Quarterman and wide receiver Ahmmon Richards finished in a three-way tie for seventh with one vote each.

"As far as what we're trying to obtain, we're trying to obtain perfection in our preparation, which will give us the opportunity to win the ballgame".

Both teams enter the season with plenty back on strong defenses that ranked in the top-20 nationally a year ago, although both also have major question marks at quarterback after Jerod Evans and Brad Kaaya entered the NFL Draft last winter.

On Canes QB N'Kosi Perry- "I would be shocked if Perry isn't a great college football player, the question is how quickly". Florida State and Miami have never met in the ACC Championship Game. Georgia Tech placed third with nine first-place votes and 708 points.

Louisville Quarterback Lamar Jackson is the prohibitive favorite to repeat as ACC Player of the Year.
