Pakistan Army launches operation Khyber-4 in Rajgal Valley

Pakistan Army on Sunday announced that it has launched Khyber-4 operation against terrorists, Samaa reported.

In redponse to another question, Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor said the army has "no direct involvement" in the Joint Investigation Team formed to probe the family of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the Panama Papers case.

A division-plus size force will take part in the operation, he informed, saying that they hope to unilaterally secure the worldwide border, eliminate hideouts and complete the state's complete physical hold on Khyber Agency in the operation. The military spokesman said the operation will help prevent other militant groups from supporting Daesh and secure areas bordering Afghanistan.

"In Pakistan, the Jamaat-ul-Ahrar has shown an alliance with Daesh. It is a subjudice case, and it will go to court".

The DG ISPR read out a message from Chief of Army Staff Gen Qamar Jawed Bajwa during the press conference: "We are building peace in our country brick by brick and moving from relative stability towards enduring peace".

Elaborating situation on the Line of Control, Asif Ghafoor said India is committing massive ceasefire violations on LOC to divert world attention from the grave human rights violations and indigenous struggle of Kashmiris in the Occupied Kashmir.

About the National Census, the DG ISPR said that all the data compiled during the demographic process had been escorted to the Pakistan Bureau of Statics (PSB) where the work had begun to give it final shape. He informed the media that it was going to be a rather hard land operation owing to the treacherous terrain and Pakistan Air Force (PAF) would supplement the army. "All operations are conducted by Pakistani security forces", he asserted.

Since the launch of Operation RuF, the army has launched 46 major operations in the country and over 9,000 intelligence-based operations (IBOs).

There has been a decreasing trend in sectarian attacks, the DG ISPR said.

"The things are improving and we hope that these will further improve in the days to come", he said. In Sindh, 522 terrorists voluntarily surrendered while fifteen killed.

Answering a question about the case of Indian Naval Agent Kubhushan Jhadev, the DG ISPR said, the agent was given time to appeal before the appellate Military Court and after rejection from there the culprit had appealed before the Chief of Army Staff (COAS). He said Pakistan believes in an open door policy with Afghanistan.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 27 major operations and 817 IBOs were carried out.

Islamic State has had more success in neighbouring Afghanistan, where it controls small chunks of land, but has also faced tough resistance from the US-backed government in Kabul and local Afghan Taliban militants.

To a question, the DG said Raymond Davis has written his book as contractor and such books have their own agendas, which could be exposed later on. "For this, army shall continue to perform its role in and with support of all other state institutions".
