Penneys Recalling Thousands Of Men's Flip Flops

Penneys moves to reassure customers over faulty flip flops

These were on sale in Primark stores between the 4 January 2017 and the 2 June 2017.

Three of Primark's own-brand flip-flops are being recalled after they were found to contain a chemical that can cause cancer.

A spokesperson for Penneys said that stores in Ireland didn't sell these model - so the recall doesn't affect Irish stores.

The recalled flip-flops are in blue, black and khaki.

The high street chain said it had come to its attention that the flip-flops "does not meet the Primark usual high standards for chemical compliance".

The chemical is reported to be chrysene - a regulated chemical commonly used in dark-coloured dyes.

A statement reads: "At the levels found in the flip flop, we believe the health and safety risk to customers is minimal".

A "thorough investigation" has now been launched by the shop, which confirmed it had suspended all new orders.

The serial numbers affected are: Khaki 02387/07, 08, 09, Black 02387/01, 02, 03 and Blue 02387/04, 05, 06.

In March, Primark recalled a pair of children's leggings with cats on over fears that a bow attached to them could present a choking hazard.

Customers do not need to provide proof of purchase to get a refund.

And in February, Primark pulled a range of The Walking Dead t-shirts after complaints of racism from customers.
