Riders can now tip Uber drivers in DC and nationwide

As of Monday, Uber riders can now tip their drivers.

Uber will finally allow Las Vegas riders to tip their drivers through the popular ride-hailing app on Monday morning, marking a gradual end to the company's longstanding policy.

If Uber competitor Lyft's experience is any guide, local drivers could be in line for lots of tips.

Riders will have the option to tip directly in the app after each trip.

Tipping is also available on UberEATS. Tips must be added within 24 hours of the ride to qualify for matching. A prompt to tip will appear when users are rating a trip and include preset or custom amounts. Some riders tip drivers in cash.

Freddie Mercury Movie Is 'Finally Happening' With Director Bryan Singer
The Egyptian actor is set to appear alongside Charlie Hunnam in the remake of the Steve McQueen classic Papillon . The names of the actors who will portray May, Taylor and bassist John Deacon will be revealed soon.

Tipping, of course, is subjective and depends on the service, but the general wisdom appears to be that tips should range from 15 to 30 percent.

There will be no minimum tip, but riders will only be able to tip the driver two times the fare up to $100.

Uber slowly started rolling out the tipping option last month in response to concerns raised by the company's drivers who wanted to earn extra money.

It remains to be seen how tipping will work with Uber's fleet of self-driving cars.
