Sonia Gandhi says presidential election is a fight against 'divisive, communal vision'

Shiv Sena taunts Sonia Gandhi says Gopalkrishna Gandhi used all powers to save Yakub Memon

The joint Opposition candidate for the post of vice-president Gopalkrishna Gandhi is likely to file his nomination papers on Tuesday, the last date for doing so, in the presence of top Congress leaders including Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.

While UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath went to the state assembly to cast his vote for the President along with all his MLAs, Shivpal fueling the Samajwadi feud announced that around 15 MLA's from the party voted for the BJP candidate.

Raut also hit out at Congress president Sonia Gandhi for her remark on the President, saying that the presidential poll is a fight against "narrow-minded communal vision". "I have become a candidate in this contest to fight the battle of ideology", Kumar told reporters.

The Shiv Sena on Monday asked Congress to check it's mental balance for having nominated Gopalkrishna Gandhi for the post of Vice-President of India. Available on Android and IOS.

She said, "This election represents a clash of ideas, a conflict of disparate values".

"We must stand more aware than ever of who we are, what we fought for in our Independence struggle and what future we want for ourselves". Meira Kumar and Gopalkrishna Gandhi, who are presidential and vice-presidential candidates of major opposition parties, were present. "The election demands a vote of conscience to preserve the India that the Mahatma and that illustrious generation of freedom fighters, joined by thousands upon thousands of ordinary men and women, fought for", she said.

The JD (U) attended the meeting where Mr Gandhi was selected as the joint opposition vice presidential candidate.

According to informed party sources, Naidu's name has nearly been finalised as candidate for the Vice President's post.

In an impassioned plea to the President, he invoked the late A.P.J.
