Leaders of US, France Discuss N. Korean Issue

US President Donald Trump

DONALD Trump is destroying attempts to prevent a nuclear war with North Korea by "wreaking havoc" on Twitter, experts have claimed. "Our leaders need to encourage talks between North Korea and other countries, especially China and Russian Federation".

North Korea has reportedly been threatening to attack the USA territory of Guam more than 2,000 miles southeast of North Korea in the Pacific Ocean.

French President Emmanuel Macron has called on all sides in the North Korean nuclear crisis to act responsibly "to prevent any escalation of tensions" after a days-long war of words between Washington and Pyongyang.

Macron also spoke by phone with US President Donald Trump with the aim of "getting North Korea to conform to its global obligations", his Elysee office said.

"Trump looks forward to seeing Xi in China later this year, a meeting that will be a very historic event".

It prompted Mr Trump to warn that he would unleash "fire and fury" on North Korea if it did not stop its threats. North Korea responded by saying it was considering a plan to attack Guam and dismissed Trump's warnings as a "load of nonsense".

The comments came after Trump unleashed a slew of fresh threats against North Korea on Friday, declaring the US military "locked and loaded".

President Donald Trump is seeking continued help from China's president in addressing the threat posed by North Korea's nuclear developments.

Trump also reiterated their mutual commitment to denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula, it added.

Xi Jinping, the leader of North Korea's key ally China, urged Trump on Saturday to avoid rhetoric that could inflame tensions, after the U.S. leader ramped up his warnings to Pyongyang, saying the Stalinist regime would "truly regret" taking hostile action against the United States. They may continue launching missile tests but they don't want a war, and the US doesn't want military action either.

"We just didn't do it in public", she said.

Despite the increasingly bellicose statements, Mr Trump's comments did not appear to be backed by significant military mobilisation on either side of the Pacific, while a discreet diplomatic back channel with the regime is reported to remain open.
