Neymar scores goal for PSG in opening game

Liverpool's Trent Alexander Arnold celebrates scoring their first goal against Hoffenheim in the UEFA Champions League qualifying playoff first leg in Sinsheim Germany on Tuesday

The 25-year-old completed a world record €222million move from Barcelona last week, but did not play any part in their 3-0 win over Amiens.

Jordan Ikoko was the major culprit for the hosts when he netted an own goal in the 52nd minutes to the disappointment of his coach.

With Unai Emery's side already leading 1-0 thanks to Jordan Ikoko's weird own goal, Neymar assisted Edinson Cavani with a wonderful pass before the roles were reversed eight minutes from time for the Brazilian to tap home.

Neymar celebrates with Cavani.

Inevitably all eyes were on the Brazil star, whose first contribution was to loft an ambitious pass from deep towards the run of Di Maria which proved just too heavy.

Cavani returned the favour with a ideal cut back and Neymar poked the ball home eight minutes from time. Following a Neymar pass which was cut out by a Guingamp defender, the ball came to Ikoko standing two metres from the penalty spot.

Neymar regularly made himself available and his neat passing in small spaces gave PSG several chances, his relationship with Cavani looking particularly promising.

Neymar was included from the start in the attack alongside Angel Di Maria and Edinson Cavani.

Cavani stung the palms of Johnsson with a free-kick as PSG continued to dominate before Neymar had half-hearted appeals for a penalty waved away as he went down under minimal contact from Etienne Didot.
