Scaramucci: Trump Has to 'Move Away' from 'Bannon-Bart Nonsense'

Anthony Scaramucci Colbert

Scaramucci said he "disagreed" with Trump's statement, but that such differences of opinion would likely do little to shape the message coming out of the White House.

"He has to move away from that sort of "Bannon-bart" nonsense", Scaramucci said, apparently combining Bannon's name with Breitbart, the website that Bannon ran before joining Trump's campaign a year ago.

"I applaud Gen. McMaster for calling it out for what it is", he said.

Scaramucci had lambasted Bannon - a senior White House adviser on leave from his position as an executive of the alt-right Breitbart News Network - in a profanity-laden interview with a New Yorker reporter. He has got to move more to the mainstream He has to be where the moderates and independents are that love the president. But to Scaramucci ― a Wall Street financier who served less than two weeks in his White House post last month ― the president's response was textbook Trump. It's not serving the president's interests.

STEPHANOPOULOS: You have been tough on Steve Bannon, does he have to go?

"The president has a very good idea of who the leakers are inside the White House". Look, I mean, we're not on a phone call, and a taped phone call.

During an interview on ABC's "This Week", Scaramucci was asked whether he thinks he deserved to be fired after a vulgar tirade about Trump administration officials.

SCARAMUCCI: Well, I think Alex [Castellanos] mentioned one of the reasons why he doesn't like doing that. The Mooch stuck by his insistence that he thought the interview was off the record and "was a very deceitful thing", but repeatedly said he is "accountable" for his own actions. "Well, obviously, I wish they would have given me a bar of soap and told me to go wash my mouth out in the bathroom and move on".

Scaramucci was sacked soon after the New Yorker interview and as new Chief of Staff John Kelly took over.

"George, I didn't say I didn't do the wrong thing", Scaramucci said.
