Tesla Model 3's battery-pack size revealed in EPA documents

Tesla Model 3's battery-pack size revealed in EPA documents

However, Musk made it very clear that the 100 kWh battery which propels Tesla's other performance models is a bit too bulky to be accommodated by the Model 3. With that in mind, the company will be keen to stress the drawbacks to the Model 3 when discussing with consumers, but the $35,000 tag will have successfully drawn the buyer in.

Elon Musk, the CEO of U.S. based Electric Vehicle maker Tesla, has officially confirmed the battery specifications of the Model 3.

Musk's tweets can be seen as him taking a stand against those questioning him as his company has been thrust into the spotlight.

Tesla Inc said on Monday it would raise about $1.5 billion through its first-ever offering of junk bonds as the US luxury electric auto maker seeks fresh sources of cash to ramp up production of its new Model 3 sedan.

If the introduction goes as planned, the Model 3 will take Tesla and its sole assembly plant into the realm of high-volume production. Tesla anticipates the addition of Model 3 production this year will eventually lift plant volume to almost 500,000 vehicles a year.

Tesla knows which next innovation is good for you, whether you know it or not.

Electrek reports that at a Goldman Sachs-hosted event on Monday, Musk revealed the Model 3 comes in two flavors of battery: a 50 kilowatt-hour pack for the base model, and a 75 kilowatt-hour pack for the long range model that costs $9,000 more.

The new capital they raised will help finance this expansion of Tesla's production capacity.

The Model Y's new architecture will use a new approach to electrical distribution, although Musk did not clearly explain how Tesla is doing it.

Albertine is not so sure.

Tesla launched a US$1.8bn junk bond on Friday, increasing the size but not budging on price, in a sign that the electric-car pioneer found the robust demand many in the market expected.

The new notes offering will not dilute equity holders. The debt offering, Tesla's first of non-convertible bonds, represents the latest sign of froth in the high-yield market, where investors have been turning a blind eye to bond-market basics in search of yield.

But short sellers weren't the only ones with a dour opinion of Tesla.
