West Brom 1-0 Bournemouth: Baggies edge Cherries

Pulis extends contract with West Brom

Tony Pulis has agreed a new two-year contract with West Brom that will keep him at the club until 2019.

The Baggies boss was due to stay at the club for the remainder of the season but he will now stay until the end of the 2018/19 season.

The 59-year-old Pulis started at West Brom in 2015 and led the team to a very respectable 10th-place finish last season, reports Efe.

Rodriguez and Hegazi made their debuts at home to Bournemouth yesterday and both impressed as Hegazi's header gave West Brom a 1-0 victory.

He added: "I've said all along that we are in a building phase which requires a step by step process".

With regard to conversations with club chairman John Williams, the Welshman mentioned having spoken "at great length over the summer", knowing the direction needed that together they "are determined to do". "I think the supporters and everybody around the football club wants to see that", he said, in quotes reported by BBC Sport.

"How we never scored more than one I just don't know".

"It's also important that we maintain the development of our young players within the academy".

"Neither can we underestimate how hard that is".

"We need to get some players in and quickly", he told Sky Sports after the match.

Rodriguez was preferred to Salomon Rondon in attack for the hosts and he nearly marked his bow with a goal in the ninth minute, Asmir Begovic saving smartly from the striker's snap-shot.

"As for the season ahead, we of course want to improve our Premier League challenge and do everything we can to make a strong challenge in at least one of the major cup competitions". I thought we were ready.
