Denver Broncos: Week One Players To Watch

Broncos block late FG top Chargers 24-21 in Joseph's debut

The Bills, Jaguars and Rams all stand alone as division leaders, so Week 1 already has been a little wacky. They've revamped the offensive line, two great running backs, the tight end (Hunter) Henry has come along and Antonio Gates has always been good. My goodness. Both of these projections are under the Disney media umbrella, but they use slightly different methods to arrive at their results - and they both agree that Denver is undervalued as a 2.5-point home fave.

Crick, who was injured during practice August 14, practiced Monday, Wednesday and Thursday before sitting out the last two days.

So, we'll take what we can get.

The disappointment the Chargers endured last season probably paled in comparison to that of the Broncos. Ward, who was released just over a week ago, in the No Fly Zone. Even after sending Brandin Cooks to the Patriots, New Orleans still figures to air it out when it can.

The Chargers offensive line is a bunch of blocking sleds and turnstiles. A safety and cornerback, King finished preseason with two sacks, an interception and a forced fumble, all the while showing his versatility. Rookie receiver Mike Williams did not practice all week and is out. That's something he did not have during the injury-plagued 2016 season.

Of course, the way to beat the Saints now could be the same as it's been for years, which is to say through the air. If they hope to compete with Denver he will have to be on top of his game.

Impact player: Peterson. It has to be, doesn't it? "I just don't want to do that". But with Michael Floyd serving a four-game suspension, Treadwell should see time outside when the Vikings roll with three receivers. It just seems like on film a new Chargers team. We all know how physical division games can become in the National Football League, don't be surprised when this match-up turns out the same on Monday, especially under the bright lights of a nationally televised game.

Rivers's undoing, and that of his team, often remains turnovers. The high altitude in Denver could force the Chargers to rotate on defense more frequently, putting young players such as Nigel Harris and Desmond King in hard situations. "I can't thank the Spanos family enough for everything and for the opportunity they gave me back in 2013 to lead their organization".

REASON TO WORRY: Depth on the defensive front might be a cause for concern.

The 2017 Broncos have to be better at stopping the run that their '16 version.

The rivalry between the two teams dates all the way back to the old AFL in 1950.

The QB, however, is the same, albeit with more experience. They have arguably the best pass-rushing duo in Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram, and these former first-rounders are going against a not-so-good quarterback in Trevor Siemian. And that's really the most important part: the holding.

While Philip Rivers' (above, right) track record against the Broncos in Denver isn't particularly good, he can take some comfort in knowing that he will have a full complement of weapons tonight.

Bold prediction: The Broncos' secondary scores a touchdown.

CHARGERS NOTABLE ROOKIE: Defensive back Desmond King. Defensive end Shane Ray is out for the first six weeks of the season due to a wrist injury.

And it gives the Broncos an immediate opportunity to fix one of the things that got away from them in last season's 9-7 finish - their record in AFC West games.
