Frank Vincent, 'Sopranos' and 'Goodfellas' Actor, Dies at 78

Frank Vincent Dead at 78 From Heart Surgery Complications

Frank Vincent, known for portraying Phil Leotard on "The Sopranos", has died, his "Sopranos" co-star Vincent Pastore announced on Facebook.

His performance with Pesci in 1976's The Death Collector caught the attention of Robert De Niro and Scorsese, and the director offered Vincent a supporting role in Raging Bull.

Vincent suffered a heart attack last week and had to undergo open heart surgery.

Vincent played Phil Leotardo, boss of the Lupertazzi crime family and Tony Soprano's rival on "The Sopranos" and appeared as a main character in the show's final season. "He had a job to do and he thought, you know, 'This Soprano guy is from Jersey, what does that mean?"

Vincent also acted in two Spike Lee films, "Do the Right Thing" and "Jungle Fever".

He was born in MA and was raised in Jersey City, New Jersey.
