Gareth Bale: I told Ben Woodburn to turn down England

Wales defender Neil Taylor was sent off for his tackle on Republic of Ireland's Seamus Coleman

After a pretty bland and dismal 75 minutes, it looked like Wales were going to be forced to settle for a disappointing 0-0 draw - that is, until Woodburn was summoned from the bench to pull off another of his magic tricks.

Wales manager Chris Coleman has made three changes from Saturday's 1-0 win over Austria ahead of Tuesday night's clash with Moldova in Chisinau.

The teenager became Liverpool's youngest goalscorer at the age of 17 years and 45 days when he scored against Leeds in the EFL Cup last season.

Woodburn had just turned 16 and almost two years on, Bale was in admiration of the teenager's goal on his Wales debut against Austria on Saturday.

"He's used to working with really good defenders every day at Liverpool".

"I am sure he will go on to do big things for us because he is comfortable at this level".

"It was a great strike", Bale said". It was the way he came into a tight game, he was composed on the ball and managed to find space.

Woodburn would come to Wales' rescue for the second successive game, though, as he sprinted away from his marker with pure speed and power before crossing wonderfully for Robson-Kanu to prod home to send the travelling Wales contingent into absolute raptures.

It took until the last 10 minutes, and the introduction of rising star Ben Woodburn, for Wales to break down stubborn opposition and leapfrog the Republic of Ireland into second place in Group D.

The win moves the Welsh onto 14 points, one more than the Irish, who lost 1-0 at home to Serbia.

Gareth Southgate's men can all-but wrap up top spot in Group E with victory over Slovakia, who sit two points behind their hosts with two games remaining, while third-placed Scotland will be looking to close the gap on the Wembley visitors to a solitary point by seeing off bottom side Malta.

I don't see it being a eye-catching performance and us Scots will be wondering whether England are going to do us the favour we need so I'd be looking a late victor, perhaps from Dele Alli. "We will need our perseverance and resilience again".

"We have a laugh with him and make him feel welcome. We can, 19 points can get you there".

Ben Davies attempted to end the scoreless start with an inventive volley but, despite taking 72 per cent of possession into half-time, Wales were unable to find a first-half breakthrough, with Ramsey slicing the final opening high and wide from a narrow angle.

Wales continue their World Cup qualifying campaign on Tuesday night with an away trip to Moldova.

"Mentally I think we all still feel 17 - me, Joe (Allen), Wayne (Hennessey), Rambo (Aaron Ramsey), all of us".
