Gov. Cooper declares State of Emergency ahead of Hurricane Irma

Source WMBF News

Earlier Monday morning, Georgia's Governor Nathan Deal declared a state of emergency for Georgia's six coastal counties. The Fort Worth-based carrier said it has canceled more than 2,500 flights as of Friday stretching through September 11.

"I mean this storm's a monster", Buelterman said.

"Irma is expected to make landfall in Florida as an extremely risky major hurricane, and will bring life-threatening wind impacts to much of the state regardless of the exact track of the center", a Friday posting wrote.

"We have managers over there, we have relatives that work with us over there, and they're not doing that good", Rivera said. An info bubble by Expedia also alerted users to the fact that the destination is now 90 percent booked.

Paige Dukes, who is with Lowndes County Emergency Management, said the county is now asking people to keep heading north. That will enhance the amount of rain that we see overall. "While gas stations may be running low on fuel, the petroleum companies that operate at the port will continue delivering fuel as long as it is safe for their drivers and they maintain an adequate reserve supply". I hope that by saying that, it gets you to take Irma seriously and start the preparation process. Even Mar-a-Lago, Donald Trump's resort in Palm Beach, has been ordered to evacuate along with all of the Florida Keys.

In response, the Atlanta Motor Speedway will be opening its RV and tent campgrounds to evacuees free of charge, according to a release posted on the venue's website. The Atlanta Motor Speedway is located in Hampton, Ga., outside of the state of the emergency area. "Unfortunately, the current disaster relief package Congress is considering for Hurricane Harvey doesn't account for the additional costs FEMA will likely incur as a result of Hurricane Irma". While it's too early to say that Irma will be like those two storms in the Carolinas, it's also true that it's a reasonable worst-case scenario for it to be that bad or almost so. The black line, when selected, and dots show the National Hurricane Center (NHC) forecast track of the center at the times indicated.
