Independence Cup 2nd T20

Delighted to see int’l cricket back to Pakistan Du Plessis

Pakistan host World XIin the final match of a three-match T20 series for the Independence Cup at Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium on Tuesday from 7:30 PM IST.

While Pakistan have Babar Azam, Shoaib Malik and Hasan Ali who can bat and bowl to perfection, World XI's Hashim Amla can score runs easily. He scored 20 runs off 14 deliveries, hitting two sixes before being caught by Shadab Khan off Muhammad Nawaz.

Azam added 122 for the second wicket with Ahmed Shehzad (39) as Pakistan built on the loss of opener Fakhar Zaman for eight.

Hashim Amla was tiring after his marathon knock but Perera turned the match on its head with a ferocious, unbeaten 47 off just 19 deliveries which included just one dot-ball.

Needing better than 9.85 runs an over Hashim Amla and Tamim Iqbal got off to good starts then both fell in the fifth over. The global World XI will be led by South African captain Faf du Plessis. Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Tim Paine too played like an ODI instead of T20I as he struggled against spinners Imad Wasim and Shadab Khan.

Earlier on Wednesday, valuable contributions from Babar Azam, Ahmed Shehzad and veteran Shoaib steered Pakistan to a healthy-looking 174-6.

Bender told CBSN they had contacted the US embassy and they were given a list of hotels that still had power. Havana residents woke up Monday to a city still without power and some neighborhoods still under water.

Shehzad, who looked somewhat tentative in the first match, played a better knock in this game, which was the right-hander's 50th T20 global.

Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur has said his team would have to be more disciplined to seize the historic Twenty20 worldwide series against the World XI. Imad Wasim was another batsman who contributed significant 15 runs as the Pakistani batsmen failed to hit huge shots and big total.

Dashing left-hander Fakhar Zaman once again got fair reward for attacking intent as he put the World XI new ball bowlers to the sword.

BOWLING: Morkel 4-0-20-0 (3w); Cutting 4-0-52-1 (2w); Badree 4-0-31-2 (1w); Collingwood 2-0-18-0 (1w); Perera 3-0-23-1 (1nb); Imran Tahir 3-0-29-1 (1w). The partnership broke when Iqbal hit a Sohail Khan delivery towards Shoaib Malik and was caught out for 23.

Perera ensured World XI takes the series to the decisive game Friday when he reached victory in style by hoisting left-armer Raees over the long-on boundary.
