Jared Kushner Used Private Email Account for White House Work

NFL Players Kneel Teams Stand with Athletes Against Trump Comments

Late last night, news broke that Jared Kushner, son-in-law and senior adviser to President Donald Trump, used a private email address for government business, possibly in violation of federal record-keeping laws.

Still, Kushner and his wife, Ivanka Trump, set up their private family domain late previous year before moving to Washington from NY, according to people with knowledge of events as well as publicly available internet registration records.

Most of the messages, Lowell said, included "forwarded news articles or political commentary".

Did Kushner share classified information on the email account?

The Presidental Records Act dictates that all emails and records related to the president's activities be archived, and use of private email accounts runs the risk of disobeying that rule.

Dozens of emails were exchanged between Mr Kushner and other White House officials on topics including media coverage and event planning, according to Politico, which first published the story.

Politico reported that there were no indications that Kushner used his private email account to discuss sensitive or classified information.

Kushner's interactions through his private email account were not limited to other administration and government officials.

Mr. Kushner exchanged fewer than 100 emails from his personal account with White House colleagues, said Abbe Lowell, his lawyer.

During the 2016 presidential campaign, President Donald Trump urged the government to lock Clinton up for her email practices. The account was set up in December as part of the transition, but it's been in use well since President Trump took office.

Kushner's representatives declined to explain the Kushner account's security measures when asked by Politico. Coming on the heels of his father's vicious attacks on Clinton over the issue, Kushner's private communications may strike some as a wee bit hypocritical.

The revelation also comes as Trump's White House faces intense scrutiny amid ongoing investigations into Russian meddling in the 2016 election and alleged collusion between Trump's team and the Kremlin.
