Kenneka Jenkins conspiracy takes new turn, death links with "organ trafficking ring"

Kenneka Jenkins: Police searching for witnesses in teen's hotel freezer death [UPDATE]

The Rosemont Police Department said Wednesday evening that it has located and interviewed 12 people in connection with the case of 19-year-old Kenneka Jenkins, whose body was discovered in a freezer at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Rosemont, Illinois on Sunday morning after she attended a party there.

"So we've gone from fake friends, rape culture, and now organ harvesting theories for what happened to Kenneka Jenkins". Police said they are reviewing 47 hotel surveillance cameras and have interviewed a dozen witnesses. As the posts sparked amateur online detectives to flood social media with accusations and conjecture, police gave an official update Wednesday.

"She was so drunk - that was his exact words - she was so drunk she couldn't hold herself up".

Police said Wednesday that the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office had conducted an autopsy and results are pending.

Meanwhile, police in Rosemont have classified Jenkins' case as a noncriminal death.

Mack told the Sun-Times that investigators had "no credible evidence at this point" that would lead them to reclassify Jenkins' death as a murder.

Jenkins was pronounced dead just before 1 a.m. Sunday, September 10. They had Jenkins' cell phone and keys in their possession, according to Martin, who said she isn't convinced because their "stories changed over and over". An hour later, Martin was at the hotel. According to Jenkins' mother, someone at Rosemont hotel had killed Jenkins. A spokesman for Rosemont police said Jenkins' mother, Tereasa Martin, will see the footage on Thursday.

She and relatives have also been outraged that it took so long to find her daughter, who was reported missing early Saturday.

Martin, who could not be reached for comment Wednesday, has expressed anger over what she believes was a lack of urgency by police and hotel staff when she came looking for her daughter, but Stephens said village police did a good job.

Other videos taken on the night before her body was found show Kenneka slurring her words as she poses with a friend in the mirror of a bathroom in one of the hotel's rooms.

"It takes strength to open these doors, the freezer doors".

"They think that she walked into a cooler, intoxicated, barely able to hold herself up", she said of the investigators, adding that walk-in freezer doors are heavy and hard to open.

"Eight of those people interviewed were present the night/morning of the hotel gathering", the police department said in a statement, according to ABC News. Four of the people interviewed "were involved in some way", police said.

'We're trying to be as understanding as we can to the mom and to be as compassionate as we can. We are saddened by this news, and our thoughts are with the young woman and her family during this hard time. "I think that's what everybody's concern is, that there was a possible cover-up of her death", said activist William Calloway.

"She wants all of those people that were inside that room to come forward and talk to detectives and clear their name", Holmes said.
