September Security OTA update hits Pixel and Nexus Devices

Do you experience similar kind of issues on your device running Android Oreo?

The latest Google app beta suggest a new version of Android that is on its way.

Some Pixel users on Android 8.0 Oreo are seeing a new Android 7.1.2 Nougat OTA release. Google did this with Android 7.0 and it brought some small improvements with Android 7.1. As a result, most users will not see their tablet or smartphone use mobile data when WiFi is available. However, Android 8.0 can be installed unofficially on numerous smartphones through custom ROMS. But yes Google will still be sending you the monthly security patch.

While we're still lingering on the old security update we can only assume September security patches for all Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Pixel, and Pixel XL users will start pushing soon.

At this point only a few carriers have confirmed plans to release Android 8.0 updates for Nexus devices.

But, if previous released pattern is taken has any indication, Samsung is expected to add custom features to Android Oreo, like the way it did with the Android Nougat and most probably complete the testing in a month or two.

This might seem like a normal and a useful message, but in reality, the Android Oreo users are getting this notification before they have actually used all of their mobile data.

But for now Lineage OS 15 isn't available, so you can prefer to use AOSP ROM port based on Android 8.0 Oreo.

Android Oreo recently launched for a variety of Google Pixel and Nexus smartphones and tablets, but as with nearly every major software update there have been a few teething issues.

The September 2017 Android security update is here, and the bulletin contains the usual details about vulnerabilities that could be affecting various Android devices.
