Sunderland boss Simon Grayson hoping Jordan Pickford doesn't play for Everton

Livingston v Sunderland- Pre Season Friendly

EVERTON will hope to turn their form around against Sunderland in the Carabao Cup.

And sub Oumar Niasse sealed it late on with a superb piece of control and a finish to match.

Despite Calvert-Lewin coming off, the Toffees continued to surge forward and the introduction of Ademola Lookman ensured little respite for the Sunderland defence.

Sunderland: Steele, Jones, Rodwell (McManaman 54), Vaughan (E Robson 86), Ndong, Matthews, Love, Kone, Gibson, Honeyman (Williams 63), Gooch. Then both victories at home, and on the road took Everton.

However, any attacking action thereafter took place in away territory.

Wayne Rooney is inevitably the favourite to open the scoring at 16/5 (4.20), but Dominic Calvert-Lewin, at 4/1 (5.00), may prove to be a better value bet.

Soon after, Vlasic and Calvert-Lewin combined nicely down the right with Vlasic firing well wide.

The breakthrough came six minutes from the interval and it was no shock it was CALVERT-LEWIN who broke the deadlock with Everton's first goal for 443 minutes.

The ball was worked from Vlasic, via Davy Klaassen, to Calvert-Lewin, who showed nice footwork as he kept his composure in the box amid a clutch of Sunderland players to slot past Steele.

He doubled his and Everton's tally seven minutes into the second period. Jonny Williams was also called upon by Grayson and with just over 20 minutes remaining he nearly engineered a route back into the game, but after picking out Vaughan the striker sent his header inches wide. Steele denied the pacey youngster a goal with his first touch but there was further frustration at the opposite end, as Vaughan's looped header dropped agonisingly wide. The former Everton striker scored the opening goal for the Black Cats at the weekend, and can be backed at 11/1 (12.00) to do so again here.

Tom Davies played the ball into the away box where NIASSE controlled it on his chest 10 yards out before shooting right-footed high past Steele.
