Super Eagles Thrash Cameroon 4-0 In Uyo

Mikel Moses Star As Super Eagles Destroy Cameroon

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has joined many Nigerians to congratulate the Super Eagles in their bashing of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon 4-0 in a 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifier in Uyo on Friday.

Cameroon were the continent's surprise champions in Gabon earlier this year, but their limitations were exposed during the Confederations Cup in Russian Federation and completely laid bare in Uyo as Nigeria ran riot.

The Nigerian struggle was crowned with a first goal by Odion Ighalo at the 29 minute.

However, the Chelsea forward's failure to pick out Ighalo went unpunished, as moments later, Mikel had added Nigeria's second when he fired home after Moses's corner wasn't cleared by the visitors.

Two of the goals were scored in the first half, while the other two were scored in the second half.

Nigeria, who reached the round of 16 at the last World Cup in Brazil, advanced to nine points as they left Cameroon floundering on just two points from three matches at the halfway stage of the group qualifiers. He scored in the 55th minute of the match.

Substitute Kelechi Iheanacho then wrapped the 4-0 victory up when he easily netted a cross from midfielder Onazi in the 76th minute of play.

Cameroon, who have made an African record seven previous World Cup finals appearances and won the African Nations Cup in February, host Nigeria in a return qualifier in Yaounde on Monday.
