WAFU Cup of Nations: Stephen Sarfo wins Man of the Match

Konadu warns players ahead of Wafu final against Nigeria

This time, Ghana claimed a convincing 4-1 win over the Super Eagles at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on Sunday to lift the trophy, which has a cash prize of $100,000 attached to it.

Elsewhere, Niger Republic defeated Benin Republic 2-1 to finish third at the 2017 West Africa Football Union (WAFU) Cup of Nations.

Nigeria's Rabiu Ali, struck the ball beautifully into Ghana's net from a 22-yard free-kick spot in the 95th minute to pull one back, however that, was too late to mean anything for the game.

The Eagles suffered a massive setback in the 39 minute when the commanding central defender Olamilekan Adeleye was forced out of the final with a suspected hamstring and replaced by Emmanuel Ariwachukwu.

Early in the second half, Super Eagles coach Yusuf Salisu threw on Gabriel Okechukwu for Ubong Friday, who was on a yellow card.

Patrick Razak proved to be an inspired substitution for the Black Stars, with the diminutive winger winning two penalties and providing an assist for the fourth goal.

The switch didn't deter Ghana who continued to run down the Nigerian team.

Vincent Atingah netted the resultant spot-kick to double the advantage.

After a scrappy start, the Stars took charge of the game after 30 minutes but had to wait till the 45th minute for the first goal of the game through Stephen Sarfo's low strike which beat Nigeria keeper, I. Ezenwa.
