$50000 Worth of Items Stolen From Mariah Carey's Home

Mariah Carey's Los Angeles home was burglarized earlier this month and approximately $50,000 worth of items were taken, a representative for the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to ABC News' Los Angeles affiliate KABC.

The details are still uncertain but Carey was not home. According to various reports, Carey's Beverly Hills estate was robbed of $50,000 worth of sunglasses and purses.

Carey was on vacation when robbers entered her home.

The mother of two was in NY during the 3 a.m. robbery Thursday, where the 47-year-old chanteuse enjoyed dinner and bowling with boyfriend, dancer Brian Tanaka, 34, the previous night. Other stars who've been hit by thieves include Jason Derulo, Alanis Morissette, David Spade, Emmy Rossum, and Scott Disick.

Selena has sold more than 65 million records worldwide and her birthday, April 16, is celebrated as " Selena Day" in Texas. Mayor Eric Garcetti and actress Eva Longoria are expected to speak at the unveiling, joined by Selena's family.

The perpetrators are believed to have got in through a window or door on an upper floor, as a ladder was found in the backyard.

What was really surprising was the fact that Mariah Carey's security team was not aware of the break-in before morning came, despite the fact that the silent alarms installed activated without fail.
