Donald Trump "Not At All" Surprised by Harvey Weinstein Allegations

Harvey Weinstein arrives at the Oscars in Los Angeles. Weinstein is taking a leave of absence from his own company after The New York Times released a report alleging decades of sexual harassment against women inc

Her mother, feminist attorney Gloria Allred, said this week she would not have represented Weinstein if asked. That followed a Thursday story from The New York Times detailing several sexual harassment allegations spanning decades.

The board controls the majority of the company, with Harvey holding about a 23% equity stake and his brother and co-chief Bob holding the same amount.

Meanwhile a prominent U.S. lawyer says she's no longer representing the movie mogul as he confronts sexual harassment allegations dating back years. "As Harvey has said, it is important for him to get professional help for the problems he has acknowledged". Her work with the co-chair of The Weinstein Company drew fierce criticism online.

Trump's comments came two days after the New York Times published a bombshell exposé of sexual abuse allegations against Weinstein (pictured). Lasry joined an exodus from the nine-member board, with billionaire Dirk Ziff and, according to reports, Technicolor executive Tim Sarnoff also leaving.

Fallout from the story about Weinstein's actions has been swift. The Times said Weinstein had made legal settlements with at least eight women.

The company announced the hiring of attorney John Kiernan, along with his partners Matthew Fishbein, a former chief assistant USA attorney; and Helen Cantwell, a former federal and state prosecutor.

Later on Friday, HuffPost reported on a female television journalist claiming Weinstein trapped her in the hallway of a restaurant in 2007 and masturbated in front of her.

"I'm working with a guy who has behaved badly over the years, who is genuinely remorseful, who says, you know, 'I have caused a lot of pain'". Weinstein and his companies are known for their voracious Oscars campaigns, and TWC has produced a slew of Best Picture nominees in the past dozens years: Lion, Carol, Philomena, Django Unchained, Silver Linings Playbook, The Fighter, Inglourious Basterds, The Reader and The King's Speech, which won the marquee award in 2011.
