With dozens of games being played on any given Saturday, the wildest game in college football is always capable of occurring in an unexpected, under-the-radar place.

How could anyone pull themselves away from such a slugfest on a lovely afternoon that turned into a gorgeous evening for football at UB Stadium?

Western Michigan headed to Buffalo as a seven-point favorite on Saturday.

Arkansas 71, Kentucky 63 in 2003. Until it finally did, after seven overtimes, matching the longest FBS games ever played.

Western Michigan outshot the Bulldogs 39-34 and had a 30-17 advantage after the first two periods. Still in regulation, Ernsberger's sister took to the field to congratulate her brother.

Donnie Ernsberger pushed his sister off the field because his 14-yard catch didn't end the game.

Western Michigan had the ball first in the fourth overtime, and put the pressure on Buffalo with another touchdown and a successful two-point conversion.

In the seventh overtime, Buffalo settled for a 25-yard field goal, opening the door for Western Michigan to end the game short of a record-setting eighth overtime.

Here's the real score: Someday, they'll look back knowing they participated in one of the most entertaining games in the history of college football. That game, however, happened in regulation.

The record for most points in a game was set in 2016 when Pitt beat Syracuse 76-61.

Jarvion Franklin's 12-yard touchdown run gave Western Michigan the victory in the Mid-American Conference game at Buffalo.
