Evidence Shows 2 Foreign Women Killed Jong-Nam By Poisoning Him - Prosecution

The trial could at last shed light on the many unanswered questions surrounding the murder.

The announcement was expected.

Two young women charged with murdering North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's half brother Kim Jong-nam, pleaded not guilty at Malaysia's High Court earlier today.

Footage from the airport security cameras showed the two women, 25-year-old Indonesian citizen Siti Aisyah and 28-year-old Doan Thi Huong of Vietnam, smearing his face with VX, which the United Nations describes as a weapon of mass destruction.

"The victim's body was then taken to the Forensics Department of Kuala Lumpur Hospital for a post-mortem and the cause of death was stated by the pathologist as "acute VX (nerve agent) poisoning".

The women, who pleaded innocent at Malaysia's High Court, have said they thought they were playing a harmless prank for a hidden-camera TV show and had been hoodwinked by men suspected of being North Korean agents.

The incident led to a diplomatic row and a severe strain in ties between the two countries, which expelled each other's ambassadors.

Defence lawyers are convinced the real culprits have left Malaysia and that the women's innocence will be proven in court.

On March 1, Siti Aisyah and Thi Huong were charged at the Sepang magistrate's court with four others still at large, with murdering Kim Chol, 45.

The two of them are 28 and 25-year-old respectively and had to wear bullet-proof vests on the day of their trial.

The four suspects' names have not been released although police said an Interpol red notice, an global alert just short of an arrest warrant, was issued because they are believed to have fled Malaysia. How a substance as deadly as the VX a-t-it could be used in an airport with no other victim than Kim?

Pyongyang has denied any involvement in the death.

In all probability, Kim will be the one taking over the throne not just because he is Jong-un's son but the seven-year-old is apparently also being groomed to take over the regime once he is old enough, according to Express UK. Premiering on Wednesday, the documentary examines claims that Kim Jong-un and his intelligence services orchestrated the hit - and explores what the assassination reveals about the North Korean leader's intentions and capabilities.

The lawyers allege that the prosecutor did not convey significant parts of the record and criticize the investigation.

Aisyah's lawyer, Gooi Soon Seng, said before the trial began that her defense will be that she didn't know she had poison on her hand when she smeared Kim's face and was instead the victim of an elaborate trick.

"She said he was smothered with something on his face by two women", he added.
