Facebook acquires tbh, an anonymous compliment app for teens

TBH, an app that encourages teens to be nice to each other, has been acquired by Facebook for an undisclosed fee.

Facebook has purchased a positivity-spreading app popular among teens. It lets users anonymously answer multiple-choice questions about friends, which are then collated to send positive feedback to the friend. Users are alerted every time someone picks them in a poll, and each vote earns them a gem that functions as a sort of in-app currency to unlock new questions. Poll winners receive the poll results as compliments, consistent with the app's strapline: "See who likes you".

The tbh app, launched on August 3, 2017, has already been downloaded over 5 million times in recent weeks and people have sent over a billion messages.

The app will continue operating as a standalone app under Facebook, a Facebook spokeswoman told The Wall Street Journal. That means they won't have their own building and email addresses, which is in contrast with the situation of teams for other Facebook-owned entities such as Instagram and WhatsApp.

I see myself here, playing my football here under a great manager and with a great team'. 'I've got two and a half years left. And he says he wants to stay at the Etihad Stadium and continue his impressive form under manager Guardiola.

They were compelled to sell the company after determining the ways the social media giant could help them. tbh stated Facebook would help realize their vision and give exposure to more people. "We felt that people craved genuine and positive interactions in their online experiences", "tbh" said in a statement. The app is hitting the USA and attracting teenagers.

It's not yet clear how the addition of tbh's team will impact Facebook's services and overall mission.

Meanwhile, Facebook would not provide any more details about the deal, but the firm is clearly eager to snap up the next big thing in its infancy, save it become another competitor like Snapchat. "While the last decade of the Internet has been focused on open communication, the next milestone will be around meeting people's emotional needs".
