Swaraj asks Indian mission to grant medical visa to Pak boy

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on the occasion of Diwali assured to give clearance to all pending medical visa applications.

This special Diwali announcement from Swaraj has come just a few days after she had directed the Indian High Commission in Pakistan to issue visas for a number of patients.

She announced on Twitter that New Delhi would grant visas to all eligible Pakistanis, who had applied for the travel document to come to India for medical treatment but were yet to receive it. Some of the medical cases include a bone marrow transplant patient, a few liver transplant surgeries, a child suffering from eye cancer, and more. She wrote: "Please contact Indian High Commission in Pakistan". "We will issue visa to facilitate treatment of your eight-year-old child in India", Sushma Swaraj tweeted on Wednesday night in response to a request from Nazir Ahmed who said his son Mohammad Ahmed was awaiting amedical visa from India for one year.

According to a Times of India report, of late, many people from Pakistan had been tweeting Swaraj directly requesting medical visas. Kashif said that the child's medicines are about to end and he needs instant medical advice in India. Last month, India issued a medical visa to a Pakistani child seeking open heart surgery.

Rohaan's mother, Mehwish Mukthar, had requested a medical visa for her son on Monday and had said "my child knows no borders". Sushma Swaraj also retweeted several tweets which indicated that there is "no treatment in Pakistan for liver problem".
