Turkey won't submit to impositions from United States in diplomatic crisis: FM Cavusoglu

The US has rebuked the claims and suspended the processing of visa applications.

An American delegation that traveled to Turkey and was led by senior State Department official Jonathan Cohen "made substantial progress", spokeswoman Heather Nauert told reporters in Washington.

In reaction to the employee s arrest, the USA ambassador October 8 announced the suspension of all visa services in Turkey, except immigrant visas.

"I believe this crisis will be resolved soon", he told state-owned TRT Haber.

However, President Tayyip Erdogan's spokesman struck a more positive tone, saying he expected the crisis to be resolved soon following the arrival in Turkey of a USA delegation for talks on repairing bilateral ties. Washington has rejected Ankara's allegations.

Turkey won't buckle under USA "impositions", its foreign minister said Wednesday as officials from both countries met to try to resolve a diplomatic dispute that resulted in the mutual suspension of traveler visas for each other's citizens.

The US delegation has asked Ankara for information and evidence regarding the detained staff, private broadcaster Haberturk reported.

Addressing a news conference in Ankara on Wednesday, Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said we will cooperate with the U.S. if their demands meet the rules of Turkish constitution.

Two US consulate employees have been caught up in the latest round of arrests.

He is accused of "attempting to overthrow the constitutional order and Turkey's government", and "spying", a judicial source said.

"There are schools linked to this terrorist organisation in Africa".

Ankara blames the network of USA -based Muslim cleric Fethullah Gulen for the coup and has repeatedly asked Washington to extradite him. Gulen denies the accusations against him.

"If they have evidence, by all means do provide it", she added.
