The White House said Trump met with members of his national security team on Tuesday to discuss the growing threat from the North.

The Defense Ministry after an investigation said in May that North Korea was likely behind the hacking of the Defense Integrated Data Center in September a year ago, but had refused to confirm media speculation that the decapitation strike plan was compromised.

One defector from North Korea has said that the state's hacking capabilities are "beyond imagination". The US has repeatedly ruled out negotiations with North Korea. Most recently, the group went to the Philippines, "but in due course the main vessels of the joint task group will also join South Korea".

According to U.S. intelligence officials, North Korean hackers were responsible for a 2014 attack on Sony Pictures.

Five South Koreans have fled China to avoid the possibility of abduction to North Korea, an official from Seoul's Foreign Ministry said Thursday.

The bilateral training mission between the U.S. B-1B bombers and South Korean F-15K fighter jets on Tuesday night followed a September 23 mission in which USA bombers and fighter escorts used pre-dawn hours to fly to the farthest point of the border between North and South Korea by any US aircraft this century. North Korea's possession of secret war plans would require a major overhaul of how South Korea and its ally Washington would respond if there's another war on the Korean Peninsula.

Consistent movements of personnel and equipment were being detected in certain locations in the North, Yonhap news agency reported, suggesting that preparations for another weapons test might be under way.

North Korea has launched two missiles over Japan and conducted its sixth and biggest nuclear test in recent weeks in defiance of U.N. sanctions as it races towards its goal of developing a nuclear-tipped missile capable of hitting the United States.

It remains unclear whether North Korea is holding official celebrations for the party anniversary or if its leader Kim Jong-Un is making any public appearances for the occasion.

"In this region, we now have a joint task group which is traveling through. the region", she said.

Dmitri Alperovitch, co-founder of Crowdstrike, a cybersecurity firm, told NBC News in August: "We've been anxious for some time that one of the ways that North Korea can retaliate against further escalation of tensions is via cyber, and particularly attacks against our financial sector". "We must hold high the banner of the great byungjin policy to accelerate the final victory in the anti-America Armageddon", it said.
