After Alexa 'Ecobee' supports Google Assistant too

With this new feature one can broadcast to Google home from phone or another Google home. The new update will allow you to broadcast a message between your phone and Google Home speaker, or on multiple speakers in the house. Google Assistant users will now be able to say, "Ok Google, make my home warmer", among other commands, to activate their ecobee3 lite, ecobee3 and ecobee4 smart thermostats.

You can now use your Google Home devices as an intercom system. A prized feature that many seem to have jumped at using, especially since you can do it from anywhere using your Alexa app as well.

Toronto-based ecobee has announced their smart thermostats now support Google Assistant, letting users control them with Google's voice assistant. You will also need to be signed into the same Google Account on your smartphone and on the Google Home device (s). This rollout is specific to countries like the US, UK, Australia, and Canada. The trigger word or phrase is "Ok Google, broadcast..." and then you can go from there. It is appealing to finally have an object which listens to you and does as you say. Basically, the formula here is to follow "OK Google, broadcast" with your message after.

On awakening the Google Assistant, you can ask it to send custom messages or pick one from the automated messages available in the software. For instance, if you tell Google Assistant "OK Google, broadcast it's dinner time", the Assistant will ring a virtual dinner bell on all of your Google Home units. Users belonging to the countries of Australia, U.S., Canada, and the United Kingdom can make the most of this feature.

Ecobee thermostats are not just the one to add Google Assistant support, Honeywell has already added this to many of its thermostats in August of previous year.

Recently, Google taught Assistant more than 50 new family-friendly games, stories, and activities.
