England's Jake Ball suffers sprained ankle ahead of the Ashes

CRICKET-AUS-ENG

It is the last thing that an England team without their best player in Ben Stokes and who have received several other setbacks already in Australia needed as they carry on their build-up to the first Test in Brisbane on Nov 23.

England were given another injury scare on Thursday ahead of the Ashes when pacer Jake Ball collapsed on the pitch and sprained his ankle during the warm-up match against Cricket Australia XI at the Adelaide Oval. However, a double strike from Anderson (2-30) and Crane (3-78) ensured CA XI were restricted to 233 for nine before the declaration came to test out the England openers. "He's a bit smaller and shorter than me but I squeezed into them!"

There was also a concern that England were susceptible to the leg-spin of 21-year-old Daniel Fallins, who snared four of the tourists' top six - Stoneman, James Vince, Root and Bairstow - despite the game being his maiden first-class match.

"I don't think it's a concern, we have got a good (fast bowling) unit in the dressing room that are willing to put in the hard yards", Woakes said.

New low-priced device developed to boost wireless signal strength
Previous research found that placing an aluminium soda can behind a Wifi access point can strengthen the signal in one direction. Some earlier research had shown that putting an aluminium can behind the router can help send the signal in a certain direction.

"I looked around the dugout and there weren't many people left to do it. Moeen Ali isn't fit at the moment, Stuart Broad had just a spell in the nets and he was very exhausted, so they said 'Colly, get your whites on!'"

Ball's injury comes just days after England sent home fellow quick Steven Finn because of a knee injury.

"It's never nice to see one of the fast guys go off injured". Losing Finny was sad for him but we have to deal with it. His replacement, Tom Curran, is due to join up with the rest of the squad in Adelaide on Friday.

"We have got a great unit, I think we can cause some problems out here with what we have got".
