Google Maps got a redesign

Google Maps redesigned to highlight more relevant information to users

Google has also improved overall Maps functionality, adding in better information for driving, navigation in general and public transport.

Today the search giant takes the wraps off a redesigned Maps, which sports a new look that Google says "better reflects your world, right now". Google will only show you gas stations if you are navigating, and train stations for transit; why would you need to know where the nearest petrol station is when you are sitting in the LRT?

Google has announced that it is revamping Maps to make it easier to understand and use.

Google revealed it is updating some of the features of Google Maps in a blog post.

West Brom manger Tony Pulis defends his record as pressure mounts
Win £500 cash playing fantasy football in Gameweek 12 with Alvaro Morata in your £5k Saturday contest team. West Brom has scored nine goals in 11 games this season, with only four teams having fewer.

To achieve this, Google Map is refreshing its color scheme and icon system to quickly identify points of interest.

For instance, the color Google has given for food and drink restaurants is orange. Similarly, shopping places are blue, health-related places such as hospitals are pink, entertainment places have teal coloured icons, and so on.

The changes will roll out over the next few weeks across all Google platforms that include Google Maps, allowing savvy explorers an even more efficient way to get out there.

The web mapping service will be synced with mail and Google Calendar. Google Maps will now show new updates happening around a user including closing of a road, opening and closing time of a business and local events.
