Keith Urban debuts song about Harvey Weinstein scandal at Country Music Awards

Keith Urban will debut

The country singer appeared on stage alone to perform the ballad "Female" as lyrics from the song describing women such as "healer", "mother", "fire" and "nature" appeared on the screen behind him.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Australian country music superstar debuted "Female", written by three Nashville hit-makers just a few weeks ago, at the Country Music Association Awards. It also referenced Beyonce's "Girls (Run the World)", with the line: "When you hear a song saying you run the world / Do you believe it?"

The song has already received plenty of love on social media with fans flocking to praise his powerful lyrics.

And later, "When somebody laughs and implies that she asked for it / Just cause she was wearing a skirt / Now is that how it works?"

Keith Urban accepts the award for single of the year for "Blue Ain't Your Color" at the 51st annual CMA Awards at the Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2017, in Nashville, Tenn.

Shane McAnally, Nicolle Galyon and Ross Copperman co-wrote "Female;" Urban, Copperman and Dann Huff produced the track. Urban, 50, recorded it on Halloween and wanted to release it as soon as possible, Billboard reports. To my wife, Nicole Mary, who's in China tonight...love you baby girl, I'm going to FaceTime you in a second.

"I thought it was nice and very personal to blend these girls into the song", Urban says, "because it just felt very right for what the song means to me".

Copperman confirmed to the Associated Press that the song was written about Weinstein.
