Microsoft adds AI-powered LinkedIn resume assistant to Word

In a recent survey of USA professionals, almost 70% stated the most challenging part of writing their resume is not knowing whether they are portraying themselves in the most effective way, and more than 50% reported that customizing their resume for a specific role was a roadblock to success. Furthermore, job applications on LinkedIn have increased 40 percent year-over-year, signaling increased competition for jobs.

The integration between Microsoft and LinkedIn leverages artificial intelligence in letting Resume Assistant surface the skills that portray the job seeker most favorably and to showcase how other professionals in relevant fields described their own work experiences.

The Resume Assistant also gives you a shortcut to turning on LinkedIn's Open Candidates feature, which tells recruiters that you're interested in learning about new job openings.

It helps, for now anyway, if you already have a pre-populated resume in Word to work with, rather than have a blank slate, though Nieh says LinkedIn has plans in the near future to help you get started from scratch as well.

Yahoo's Mayer points to Russians in data-breach apology
The company's website received 420 million visits , but only 30 million people have actually used it. Yahoo! didn't disclose the breach until 2016 and initially said one billion accounts were affected.

It's the newest example of Microsoft putting its $26 billion LinkedIn acquisition to work, using its data to make the Microsoft Office 365 suite even better.

Customize a resume based on real job postings-People can see relevant job listings from LinkedIn's 11 million open jobs and customize their resume to appeal to recruiters. And users have an option to connect with professional resume writers via LinkedIn's freelance hiring place. Look out for more updates in the coming months.

That's why today we're bringing the power of LinkedIn into Microsoft Word with the launch of Resume Assistant.
