NFL Commissioner Asking For $50-Million Dollar Salary

Roger Goodell seeking private jet for life in next contract as NFL commish: report

Goodell has been the league's commissioner since 2006 and his current contract is approximately $30 million in salary a year.

"This is way over the top", one league source said. Yet, it seems most owners reject his outlandish request for a raise this time around.

As one unnamed owner (Jones?) told ESPN, "S$3 everal owners in this league who don't make $40 million a year". According to ESPN, "The NFL's Compensation Committee will hold a conference call Monday to discuss and further push ahead the proposed extension for commissioner Roger Goodell". "It's offensive. It's unseemly".

"Jerry was fully on board with this right up until the suspension came down", one ownership source said.

With the National Anthem protests leading a swath of controversy that has loomed over Roger Goodell's contract negotiations, the demands he's making before re-upping with the NFL will sound even more startling to some fans. That, coupled with the continued fallout from the player protests during the singing of "The Star Spangled Banner", have resulted in Jones' threat to sue the league if any such deal with Goodell goes through. "He can stand to show some humility, but he won't listen to staff". As PFW reported this week, Jones may have a half-dozen owners in his corner, while a larger group remains displeased with Goodell but isn't sure how to respond, and a growing faction is furious with Jones over his public handling of the NFL's private business.

"I don't sense that at all from him", said a source close to Goodell on whether or not he will leave the job "He has said he's committed to it. He feels there are important issues he has to deal with". It doesn't seem that Goodell is going to walk away willingly either. He is used to getting his way in the league. Brady and the Patriots were accused by the mediocre Indianapolis Colts of purposefully letting air out below the required pressure in order to gain a competitive advantage. Despite no criminal conviction Goodell suspended Elliot for six games for breaking the NFL's personal conduct policy. No one is talking about football.

"The problem is, no one is talking about games anymore", one owner told ESPN this weekend.
