Padmavati to release in Rajasthan, but conditions apply!

Supreme Court Rejects Petition Filed Against Release Of'Padmavati

Arjun Gupta, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, yesterday came out strongly against Bhansali and said that an action should be taken for him to stop making "such movies".

Expressing suspicion on the funding of the movie, Swamy asked the Enforcement Directorate to investigate the financing behind the Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie. By no means does it represent the point of view of CBFC as an organisation or the CBFC board. "We have respect for Bhansali as an individual and artist", Joshi told IANS. Padmavati, the queen of Mewar, and several Rajput women had sacrificed their lives by committing "jauhar" (sati), the plea said, adding that the movie distorted historical truths, "hurting the sentiments of Kshatriya community".

"I have written a letter to the Home Minister that Sanjay Leela Bhansali be tried for treason and a strict action be taken against him. So I feel we need to look into it if there is any worldwide conspiracy behind it.", Swamy told ANI when asked about the Padmavati controversy.

The film has been embroiled in a spate of controversies ever since its inception.

It was alleged that there was an apprehension that there were intimate scenes in the film, involving Allauddin Khilji (played by Ranveer Singh) and Rani Padmavati (Deepika Padukone).

During the shooting of the film, there were rumours that there will be a dream sequence between Khilji and Rani Padmavati in the film.

The counsel answered that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) was yet to certify the movie, following which the bench said "this court should not exercise its writ jurisdiction in such a situation". Not only Jaipur Royals, but also Jaipur distributors have said that they want stand-off to end between Karni Sena (fringe outfit) and makers of Padmavati before they decide to release the film on December 1.
