Real-life 'Iron Man' sets Guinness World Record

His first two attempts at breaking the world record were unsuccessful because he was unable to get enough momentum

Are you an Iron Man fan? The record-setting flight was performed in Lagoona Park in Reading, UK.

Guinness adjudicator Pravin Patel was on hand to verify that Browning's speed was accurately measured over a distance of at least 328 feet.

United Kingdom inventor Richard Browning has soared into the record books with a new Guinness World record for the fastest speed in a body controlled jet engine powered suit.

The Iron Man suit is made up of six kerosene-fuelled micro gas turbines, which each have 22 kg of thrust.

Guinness says more than 600,000 people are attempting to set records as part of the event. There are no control surfaces for direction, the suit is completely controlled by body movement alone.

Browning said he had to prepare for the attempt by performing core strength exercises so he had the muscle power to balance and hold his position in the air.

Yesterday, a British man broke the Guinness World Record for the fastest speed in a body controlled jet engine powered suit, reaching a speed of 51 kilometers per hour in an experiment conducted over a lake in England. The event this year saw almost 600,000 people around the world trying to set world records and make it into the book.
