Streaming Service Coming Next Year

The catalog will include Disney's Star Wars and Marvel movies, as previously announced, and any new Marvel shows, which won't be produced exclusively for platforms like Netflix unlike Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and The Defenders. Thankfully, according to CEO Bob Iger, fans won't need to break the bank to take part in the viewing experience.

The company plans on allowing commercials for its sports streaming app, but there are no plans to "have the programming that airs in the direct-to-consumer service interrupted by commercials", Iger says, adding sponsored programs could be a possibility.

It was previously reported that Disney would launch its streaming service with "500 films from the Disney library.in addition to around 7,000 episodes of Disney TV".

Thanks to the company's talkative CEO, we have a good idea about when it will launch, how much it will cost, and what types of shows and films it might stream. Disney is also planning to create original films, TV shows, short-form content and more for the service.

"We had the time of our lives collaborating with Lucasfilm and Disney on "The Last Jedi, ' " Johnson and Bergman said in a joint statement".

The Marvel/Netflix partnership has given us some of the best stories in the MCU, but it looks that's all about to end as Disney begins its quest for streaming dominance.

Netflix now offers three different subscription tiers to US subscribers: a basic plan for $7.99 a month, a premium plan at $10.99, and an ultra premium plan for $13.99.

Internet television network Netflix (NFLX) saw its stock retreat to its 50-day moving average on Friday after one-time friend - and now future competitor - Walt Disney (DIS) provided tantalizing details on its upcoming rival streaming video service.

Also planned: new Marvel, Pixar Monster and High School Musical series, he said. This seemingly means that the service will not feature the hard-edged Marvel shows that are now airing on Netflix or many Touchstone and Hollywood Pictures films.

Disney's drop in theatrical distribution revenues was primarily driven by the under-performance of Cars 3 compared to Finding Dory in the prior-year quarter.

"The excitement will only intensify as we get closer to the release date", Iger said. This will launch before the entertainment-focused service rolls out.
