The Rock punches giant animals in first trailer for Rampage

Turns out there is a way to make Dwayne Johnson look small, and it's by making him star alongside a CG gorilla the size of a building.

Dwayne Johnson has revealed the first poster for his upcoming action movie Rampage, the big-screen adaptation of the video game due in cinemas next year.

Along with the following poster, the studio also confirmed the first trailer for Rampage will debut online at 5pm EST/2 pm PST. The poster gives the first look at the scale of Rampage's giant animals, as George now towers over The Rock, making the tagline "Big meets bigger" even more fitting. Oops. Bad, science! Bad!

The poster, seen below, features Johnson's character David Okoye, a primatologist, and his best friend: an albino silverback gorilla named George.

"Like with anything that powerful, you have to really be careful that you're utilizing it wisely and not for the wrong reasons", Johnson says. And honestly, I have no idea why anyone thought there was cinematic potential in Rampage, a boring and repetitive quarter-sucker that I avoided like the plague back when arcades were still a thing, and I'm compelled to find out how they stretched that thin premise into a movie!

"Rampage" hits theaters on April 20. That is, of course, until a rogue genetic experiment causes George to mutate into a huge, King Kong-sized monster and start smashing things. As these newly created monsters tear across North America, destroying everything in their path, Okoye teams with a discredited genetic engineer to secure an antidote, fighting his way through an ever-changing battlefield, not only to halt a global catastrophe but to save the fearsome creature that was once his friend.

Naomie Harris, Malin Akerman, and Marley Shelton also star in the film, which was directed by Brad Petyon (San Andreas), who appears to be playing up the camp in the two-minute, 30-second trailer.
