Trevor Siemian Named Broncos Starting QB After Paxton Lynch Ankle Injury

Karl Joseph can't quite make the catch on a pass intended from Trevor Siemian to Cody Latimer who completed the catch in the fourth quarter as the Oakland Raiders played the Denver Broncos at the Oakland Coliseum in Oakland Calif. Sunday

Lynch was named starting quarterback before the Raiders game. Amari Cooper had to leave the Broncos game with a concussion after catching only one pass, albeit for a touchdown. Crabtree didn't have his helmet on, but he was still willing to fight Talib.

To the Raiders credit, they overcame the losses. Two plays later, Bowman came up with the interception and the Raiders drove down for the opening touchdown.

Osweiler played the next three Broncos games against the Philadelphia Eagles, New England Patriots and Cincinnati Bengals.

Against the Raiders on Sunday, Lynch went 9 of 14 for 41 yards, no touchdowns, one interception, and a 38.4 passer rating.

Broncos head coach Vance Joseph said on Monday that "Paxton has an ankle injury that will keep him out 2-4 weeks, so Trevor will be the quarterback". He battled a foot injury that slowed him throughout much of his rookie campaign. No Denver rusher had more than 20 yards, and that came from Lynch on two carries.

The positive on Oakland's special teams Sunday was Marquette King. On the negative side, Giorgio Tavecchio missed a 35-yard field goal wide left, his third miss of the year. The one positive was their punter. And the Raiders still can't get anything going on punt returns, with Richard averaging only 6.3 yards on four returns. That is a good thing, especially with a brand-new defensive coordinator on the field. However, the defense played well in response to the change, so that is also a positive. However, as Michael Gehlken mentions, the National Football League is expected to take into account this footage when determining what type of punishment Crabtree will receive for his actions on Sunday. The Raiders held on to win, and Del Rio has his team now ready to fight for the playoffs.
