Victoria's Secret Fashion Show: Katy Perry Reportedly Banned From Performing in China

"The news reports I've been reading from the United States here in Shanghai regarding this year's Victoria's Secret Fashion Show are not an accurate reflection of what I'm seeing and experiencing on site", he told People. The VS show is scheduled to tape live in Shanghai on September 28.

Executive producer Ed Razek told People that news reports on the show have been "inaccurate" - but failed to confirm or deny either woman had been refused visas to enter the country.

Perry's sunflower-emblazoned dress sparked a bit of a controversy because the flower has been associated with anti-China protesters in Taiwan following the 2014 Sunflower Student Movement. Perry had also shown her support for Taiwan by draping its flag on her shoulders. "Maroon 5 was banned a few years ago because one band member wished the Dalai Lama happy birthday on Twitter".

According to Page Six, the Swish Swish singer has been denied access to China.

Meanwhile, Harry Styles recently revealed the video for new single "Kiwi".

But Perry isn't the only super star missing the show.

Gabby Douglas Apologizes to Aly Raisman for Twitter Imbroglio

The annual show, viewed by millions worldwide, features the planet's top models including Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Jasmine Tookes and Lais Ribeiro. Katy Perry, who was slated to sing at the show, won't be able to make it to Shanghai, either. "Love my VS family, and will be with all my girls in spirit!"

Hours ago, the executive producer issued a statement where they danced around the reasons why the model can not walk in her third Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.

Liu Wen, Taylor Hill, and Candice Swanepoel pose for a cute photo while making an appearance at the Victoria's Secret store at Lippo Plaza on Saturday (November 18) in Shanghai, China.

Sources told Page Six that Hadid, who was booked for the show back in August, was banned because of a February Instagram video - in which she held up a biscuit shaped like a Buddha and imitated the religious figure by squinting her eyes.

China's foreign ministry said Friday it was "not aware" of the Hadid or visa issues.

Speculation has also swirled over the participation of Russia's Julia Belyakova, Kate Grigorieva and Irina Sharipova, and Ukraine's Dasha Khlystun, after unconfirmed reports suggested they were denied Chinese visas.
