Blue Jays fire broadcaster Gregg Zaun over allegations of 'inappropriate behavior'

Sportsnet fired longtime Blue Jays baseball analyst Gregg Zaun Thursday due to "inappropriate behaviour and comments" towards female employees in the workplace.

In a statement, Rogers Media president Rick Brace said the company was terminating the contract of the former Blue Jays catcher turned TV personality effective immediately. He also caught for the Marlins, Rangers, Royals, Astros, Rockies, Blue Jays, Rays and Brewers. Brace said after an investigation, the company made a decision to terminate Zaun's contract. "We believe in a professional workplace where all employees feel comfortable and respected", Brace added in his statement.

Zaun, who became a Blue Jays analyst in 2011, did not have physical or sexual contact with any of the women, according to a report on Sportsnet's website.

Brace wrote in the statement that the company received multiple complaints from female co-workers who accused Zaun of inappropriate behavior.

Zaun, 46, played 16 major league seasons, including five years in Toronto from 2004-2008.
